📌 Important Fee Payment Guidelines
Please note the separate payment timelines and methods required for your appointment booking and visa processing:
- VFS Service Fees (Paid in Advance): The VFS service charge must be paid online at the time of scheduling and confirming your visa appointment.
Official Visa Fees (Paid at the Center): The core visa application fees must be paid in person at the VFS Visa Application Centre during your scheduled appointment time
1. Core Official Application Documents
- Original Passport:
- Must be issued within the last 10 years.
- Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned date of departure from the Schengen area.
- Must contain at least 2 completely blank pages.
- Provide clear photocopies of the first and last pages, along with copies of any previous Schengen, UK, or US visas.
2. Flight & Accommodation Proofs
- Round-Trip Flight Itinerary: Confirmed flight reservations detailing the exact dates of entry and exit from the Schengen Zone.
- Proof of Accommodation:
- For Tourists: Verifiable hotel bookings or rental agreements covering every single night of your stay in the Schengen area.
- For Private Visits: An official certificate of board and lodging (Attestation d’Accueil) obtained by your host from the local town hall (Mairie) in France.
3. Financial & Employment Framework
You must prove you possess stable financial means to support yourself during your stay (typically a benchmark of €65 to €120 per day depending on whether a hotel is pre-paid).
Required Financial Paperwork:
- Bank Statements: Original personal bank statements showing active transactions for the last 3 to 6 months, bearing the official bank stamp and signature.
- Income Tax Proof: Copies of Income Tax Returns (ITR) or tax acknowledgments for the last 2–3 financial years.
- Salary Slips: If employed, provide payslips for the last 3 months.
Professional Status Proofs:
- For Employees: A formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) or leave approval letter from your employer on company letterhead, stating your designation, salary, tenure, and confirming your approved leave dates.
- For Self-Employed/Business Owners: Company registration documents (Certificate of Incorporation, GST registration, partnership deed) and the business’s bank statements for the last 6 months.
- For Retired Citizens: Pension statements for the last 3 months or documented proof of regular income generated by property or business assets.
- For Students/Minors: A student ID card, an official NOC from the school/university, a birth certificate, and a signed sponsorship letter from parents alongside their financial assets.
4. Mandatory Insurance & Travel Plans
- Travel Medical Insurance: A policy certificate providing a minimum coverage of €30,000 (or equivalent currency). It must cover all emergency medical expenses, hospitalization, and repatriation. The policy must be valid across all Schengen member states and cover the entire duration of your stay.
- Personal Cover Letter: A signed, detailed covering letter written by the applicant explaining the exact purpose of the trip, an outline of your day-by-day travel itinerary, and a declaration guaranteeing your intent to return to your home country before the visa expires.
5. Submission and Biometrics
- In-Person Appointment: All applications must be submitted in person at an outsourced service provider hub (such as VFS Global) to collect biometric data (fingerprints and a digital photograph).
- Exemption: If you have successfully registered biometric data for a Schengen visa within the last 59 months, you may be exempt from appearing in person.
