Processing Time
Nationality
Apply for Luxembourg Schengen Tourist Visa with Tripex
• Indian ordinary passport holders require a Schengen visa to visit Luxembourg for tourism.
• Luxembourg should be the applicant's main Schengen destination.
Apply through Luxembourg when:
Luxembourg is the only Schengen destination
OR
Luxembourg is the main destination based on purpose or longest stay.
If several Schengen countries are visited for equal periods, the application normally goes to the country of first Schengen entry.
• Tourist applicants must submit the application personally.
• Travel agents or representatives cannot submit Luxembourg Tourist Visa applications on behalf of the applicant.
• Applications can be submitted up to 6 months before travel.
• Applications should normally be lodged at least 15 calendar days before travel.
Passport Requirements
Mandatory:
• Original Indian passport
• Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of return / departure from the Schengen Area
• Passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years
• At least 2 blank pages
• Copy of passport bio-data page
• Copies of Schengen visas obtained during the previous 5 years, where applicable.
Luxembourg VFS also states that handwritten or non-machine-readable Indian passports issued after 1 April 2010 are not accepted.
Photograph
One recent passport photograph.
Requirements:
• Colour
• White background
• Approximately 35–45 mm
• Not older than 6 months
• No filters or digital editing
• Full face visible
• No sunglasses
• Mouth closed.
The photograph should be pasted, not stapled, to the application form.
Visa Application Form
Mandatory.
Provide:
• Completed Schengen Visa Application Form
• Dated
• Signed by applicant.
Accommodation
Mandatory.
Provide:
• Confirmed hotel booking
covering the intended Luxembourg stay.
If travelling through multiple Schengen countries, accommodation should correspond with the complete itinerary.
Travel Itinerary
Mandatory.
Provide a complete travel programme showing:
• Travel dates
• Cities/places to be visited
• Luxembourg itinerary
• Other Schengen destinations where applicable.
Flight / Transport Reservation
Mandatory as a reservation.
Provide evidence of transport such as:
• Flight reservation
• Train reservation
• Bus booking
• Intra-Schengen transport to Luxembourg.
If travelling by car, this should be clearly mentioned.
A fully paid flight ticket is not required.
The Embassy specifically advises that confirmed/paid air tickets are not required before visa approval.
Financial Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate sufficient resources to pay for:
• Accommodation
• Daily expenses
• Transport
• Return journey.
The European Commission's current April 2026 Schengen reference table states approximately:
EUR 67 per person per day
for Luxembourg.

This is a reference amount and does not mean that maintaining exactly this amount guarantees visa approval.
Bank Statement
Mandatory as part of financial evidence.
The Luxembourg India Tourist Visa checklist asks for:
Last 3 months personal bank-account status / statement
provided through the bank.
It should include:
• Applicant's account details
• Recent account position/history
• Name and signature of the bank branch manager.
The checklist also asks for an original bank letter stating the applicant's credit-card limit where applicable.
Salary / Pension Evidence
Provide:
Last 3 months salary slips
OR
Last 3 months pension slips
where applicable.
Income Tax Returns
The official India Tourist Visa checklist requires:
Income Tax Returns / proof of paid income tax for at least 2 years.
Employment / Business Evidence
Applicants should provide appropriate evidence such as:
• Employment contract
OR
• Company-register extract
OR
• Similar evidence establishing employment/business status.
Luxembourg also asks for an original covering letter from the employer/company/school showing:
• Applicant's position/status
• Length of employment/service
• Approved leave/vacation.
For Employed Applicants
Provide:
• Employment contract
• Employer covering / leave letter
• Last 3 months salary slips
• Last 3 months bank evidence
• Income Tax Returns for at least 2 years
• Other financial evidence where applicable.
For Self-Employed / Business Owners
Provide where applicable:
• Company-registration evidence
• Company-register extract or similar document
• Business ownership evidence
• Personal bank evidence
• Income Tax Returns for at least 2 years
• Covering letter explaining business and travel.
For Students
Provide:
• School / College / University letter
• Confirmation of enrolment
• Approved leave where applicable
• Parent/sponsor financial evidence where applicable.
The Luxembourg India checklist specifically allows the required covering letter to originate from the applicant's school where relevant.
For Retired Applicants
Provide:
• Last 3 months pension slips
• Personal bank evidence
• Income Tax evidence where applicable
• Other regular-income evidence.
Sponsorship
Where another person in Luxembourg financially supports the traveller, Luxembourg allows a formal:
Statement of Financial Support / Engagement de prise en charge
The guarantor's signature must be authenticated and the document endorsed by Luxembourg's competent authority.
The statement is not mandatory for an independently funded hotel-based tourist.
Travel Medical Insurance
Mandatory.
Minimum coverage:
EUR 30,000
Insurance must:
• Be valid throughout all Schengen countries
• Cover the entire trip
• Cover accidents
• Cover urgent medical treatment
• Cover emergency hospitalisation
• Cover repatriation.
For a Multiple Entry Visa application, an additional declaration concerning insurance for future journeys may be required.
Biometrics
Mandatory where applicable.
Tourist applicants generally appear personally at VFS.
Biometrics include:
• Fingerprints
• Digital photograph.
Previously collected Schengen fingerprints may normally be reused for subsequent applications within 5 years, if available in the Visa Information System.
Children below 12 years are exempt from fingerprint collection.
Minors
For a minor below 18 travelling alone:
• Notarised consent from both parents/legal guardians
• Copies of parents'/guardians' identification documents bearing their signatures.
For a minor travelling with only one parent:
• Notarised consent from the non-travelling parent/legal guardian
• Copy of that parent's/guardian's identification document.
Aadhaar Card
Not listed as a mandatory Luxembourg Tourist Visa document on the current VFS India tourism checklist.
PAN Card
Not listed as a mandatory document.
Police Clearance Certificate
Not required for a standard Schengen Tourist Visa.
Invitation Letter
Not required for normal hotel-based tourism.
Private/family visits follow a different supporting-document route.
Medical Examination
Not normally required for an ordinary short-stay Tourist Visa.

Description
Indian ordinary passport holders require a Luxembourg Schengen Type C Tourist Visa. Applications are submitted personally through VFS Global India and can permit stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
