Monaco

• Indian ordinary passport holders require a Schengen visa for a short tourist visit to Monaco unless they already hold a valid qualifying Schengen visa/residence permit.

• Monaco does not operate a separate short-stay tourist visa system for Indian travellers.

• France represents Monaco in India for issuing short-stay visas.

• If Monaco is the traveller's main destination, the visa application is handled through the French visa system.

• A Schengen visa valid for France also permits the holder to enter and stay in Monaco.

Passport Requirements

• Original Indian passport

• Passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years

• Passport must remain valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure from the Schengen Area

• Passport must contain at least 2 blank pages

• Passport must be in good condition.

Application Process

1. Complete the application through France-Visas
2. Generate and print the application form and receipt
3. Book a VFS Global appointment
4. Attend the VFS appointment
5. Submit passport and supporting documents
6. Provide biometrics where required
7. Pay visa and VFS fees
8. Passport is forwarded to the competent French Consular authority
9. If approved, the Schengen visa sticker is placed in the passport.

Two recent ICAO-compliant photographs should be prepared.

Flight Reservation

Required as part of the travel plan.

Tripex should collect:

• Return flight reservation

• Internal European transport bookings where applicable.

Most travellers access Monaco through France, commonly via Nice, because Monaco has no major commercial international airport of its own.

Applicants should avoid purchasing unnecessary non-refundable tickets before visa approval.

Accommodation

Required.

Provide accommodation covering the entire journey.

For Monaco tourism:

• Monaco hotel reservation

OR

• Accommodation in Monaco and/or nearby France according to the actual itinerary.

If visiting several Schengen countries, accommodation should cover the complete journey.

Travel Medical Insurance

Mandatory.

Minimum Coverage:

EUR 30,000

Insurance must:

• Be valid throughout the Schengen Area

• Cover the complete intended travel period

• Cover emergency medical treatment

• Cover hospitalisation

• Cover medical repatriation

• Cover repatriation in case of death.

Financial Requirements

Because Monaco's short-stay visa is handled by France and travellers normally enter through the French/Schengen border, France's published border financial references are particularly relevant.

With confirmed hotel accommodation:

EUR 65 per person per day

Without hotel accommodation:

EUR 120 per person per day

Where hosted privately with the appropriate accommodation certificate:

EUR 32.50 per person per day.

These are border reference amounts and do not guarantee visa approval.

Bank Statement

Tripex should collect:

Recent personal bank statements

Recommended: 

Last 3 months

Statements should clearly show:

• Applicant's name 

• Account number 

• Transaction history 

• Available balance 

• Regular income where applicable.

The French Consular authority can request additional financial evidence depending on the applicant's circumstances.

For Employed Applicants

Provide:

• Employment letter

• Employer leave approval / NOC

• Recent salary slips

• Recent personal bank statements

• Income Tax Return evidence where applicable.

For Self-Employed Applicants

Provide:

• Business registration

• GST registration where applicable

• Incorporation / Partnership / Proprietorship evidence

• Business bank statements

• Personal bank statements

• Income Tax documents.

For Students

Provide:

• School / College / University enrolment certificate

• Student ID

• Leave/NOC where applicable

• Parent/sponsor financial documents where applicable.

For Retired Applicants

Provide:

• Pension evidence

• Recent bank statements

• Investment / regular-income evidence where applicable.

For Unemployed Applicants

Applicants can apply if another person finances the journey.

Provide where applicable:

• Sponsorship letter

• Sponsor bank statements

• Sponsor employment/business evidence

• Sponsor Income Tax documents

• Proof of relationship.

Invitation Letter

Not required for ordinary hotel-based tourism.

For private accommodation, appropriate host/accommodation documents may be required.

Return Ticket

Required/recommended as part of the Schengen entry documentation.

Border authorities may ask for:

Biometrics

Applicants normally provide:

• Fingerprints

• Facial photograph.

Applicants under 12 are exempt from fingerprint collection.

If Schengen biometrics were collected less than 59 months ago, they may normally be reused where available and valid.

Existing Schengen Visa

This is very important for Tripex.

An Indian passport holder who already has a valid Schengen visa that is valid for France can travel to Monaco without applying for another Monaco visa.

Therefore Tripex should ask:

"Do you currently hold a valid Schengen visa?"

If YES:

Check:

• Visa validity 

• Number of entries remaining 

• Permitted duration of stay 

• Territorial validity.

A new application may not be required.
