Indian citizens travelling to Sri Lanka for tourism must apply for a Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorization, commonly known as ETA, before travelling. The Sri Lanka Tourist ETA allows Indian travellers to visit Sri Lanka for tourism, holidays, sightseeing, visiting friends or relatives, and other short-term permitted activities.

Required Documents

1. Valid Indian passport
2. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka.

4. Clear copy of the passport front page with personal details.
5. Confirmed return ticket or onward travel ticket
6. The traveller must have proof of return to India or onward travel to another destination.
7. Accommodation details
8. Hotel booking confirmation or address of stay in Sri Lanka.
9. Travel dates
10. Planned date of arrival and departure from Sri Lanka.
11. Traveller contact details
12. Active email address and mobile number.
13. Sufficient funds
14. Traveller should have adequate funds to cover stay, local expenses, and return travel.
15. Purpose of visit
16. Tourism, holiday, sightseeing, family visit, short-term permitted visit, or other approved short visit purpose.

Important Conditions

Travellers must not work, take paid employment, or engage in business activities unless the correct visa category has been obtained.

The ETA must be used before the expiry date mentioned on the approval notice.

Final permission to enter Sri Lanka is granted by the Sri Lanka Immigration officer at the port of entry.

For stays beyond 30 days, travellers must apply for a visa extension after arrival in Sri Lanka through the Sri Lanka immigration extension process.
