Apply for Turkmenistan Tourist Visa with Tripex
• Indian ordinary passport holders require a visa before entering Turkmenistan.
• Turkmenistan does not currently provide a normal self-service tourist eVisa for Indian citizens.
• Tourism visas are classified as Tourist Visa – TU.
• A pre-approved Letter of Invitation is the most important requirement.
• The Letter of Invitation must be issued/certified by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.
• For tourism, the traveller should normally contact an authorised tourism company in Turkmenistan.
• The tourism company assists the applicant in obtaining the Letter of Invitation from the State Migration Service.
• The Embassy of Turkmenistan specifically states that it does not arrange tours or obtain Letters of Invitation for tourists.
• The Embassy issues the visa only after the State Migration Service requirements have been satisfied.
• The Letter of Invitation is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
• The applicant must submit the Visa Verification Number or certified Letter of Invitation.
• Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the applicant's intended date of departure from Turkmenistan.
• The original passport must be submitted for the Embassy Sticker Visa.
• A copy of the passport bio-data page is required.
• The visa application form must be completed accurately.
• The Embassy of Turkmenistan in India currently instructs applicants to use its accepted visa application form.
• A recent passport-size photograph is required.
• The photograph should be glued to the visa application form and should not be stapled.
• Information entered in the visa application must exactly correspond with the information used for the State Migration Service invitation approval.
• An incorrect name, passport number or other discrepancy can delay or invalidate the visa process.
• For a tourism application, the actual tour plan and accommodation arrangements are normally coordinated through the sponsoring Turkmenistan tourism company.
• Independent tourism without an approved tourism arrangement should not be treated as equivalent to a normal tourist visa application.
• Hotel reservations may therefore form part of the tourism company's tour package even though the Embassy of Turkmenistan in New Delhi does not separately list a hotel booking as a mandatory consular document.
• Return or onward ticket is not separately listed by the New Delhi Embassy as a mandatory visa application document.
• However, travellers should have confirmed departure arrangements corresponding to their approved tour itinerary.
• A bank statement is not currently listed by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in New Delhi as a standard mandatory Tourist Visa application document.
• Income Tax Returns and Form 16 are not listed as standard Tourist Visa requirements.
• Employment proof is not listed as a standard mandatory tourist visa document by the New Delhi Embassy.
• Aadhaar card is not listed as a mandatory Turkmenistan visa document.
• A general invitation from a friend is not a substitute for the tourism-company / State Migration Service documentation where the person is applying specifically under the Tourist Visa category.
• Current official Turkmenistan Embassy guidance from other missions lists medical/travel insurance among Tourist Visa supporting documents. Indian applicants should therefore obtain appropriate medical/travel insurance and reconfirm whether the New Delhi Embassy requires it at submission.
• An HIV/AIDS certificate becomes relevant for longer stays.
• The Embassy of Turkmenistan in New Delhi states that an original HIV/AIDS Certificate issued within the previous one month is required where the intended stay in Turkmenistan is one month or longer.
• The HIV/AIDS certificate must be in Turkmen, English or Russian, or accompanied by an appropriate certified translation.
• For an ordinary tourist journey of less than one month, the Embassy does not list this HIV/AIDS certificate requirement.
• The traveller can alternatively obtain a visa at Ashgabat International Airport only where they already hold the required valid Letter of Invitation certified by the State Migration Service.
• Therefore, obtaining the Letter of Invitation before travelling remains mandatory even for airport visa issuance.
• A traveller should not fly to Turkmenistan expecting to obtain a tourist visa without prior approval.
• Foreign nationals entering Turkmenistan must pay a USD 10 registration fee at the immigration checkpoint.
• Foreign citizens staying in Turkmenistan must be registered at their place of stay with the State Migration Service within 3 working days after entry, excluding the day of arrival.
• For organised tourists, the sponsoring tourism company normally assists with required registration procedures.
• Visitors must follow the itinerary and visa conditions approved for their trip.
• Tourist Visa holders cannot undertake employment.
• Visa approval does not guarantee entry.
• Final admission remains at the discretion of Turkmenistan immigration and border authorities.
Description
Description:
Indian passport holders require a visa before travelling to Turkmenistan for tourism.
The Turkmenistan Tourist Visa is different from a conventional eVisa or simple embassy tourist visa because the applicant normally needs to arrange the journey through a Turkmenistan tourism company first.
The tourism company assists in obtaining a Letter of Invitation approved by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan. This Letter of Invitation is the key document allowing the Embassy of Turkmenistan in New Delhi to issue the Tourist Visa.
The standard visa is issued as a Sticker Visa and the fee depends on the requested duration. For example, a normal Single Entry visa costs USD 35 for up to 10 days, USD 45 for up to 20 days and USD 55 for up to one month.
The Embassy currently states a standard visa processing period of approximately 10 business days after the complete documentation and State Migration Service approval are available. Urgent processing of approximately 1–3 business days is available at a higher government fee.
A visa can also be issued on arrival at Ashgabat International Airport, but only if the traveller already has a valid Letter of Invitation approved by the State Migration Service. Therefore, Tripex should not market Turkmenistan as an unrestricted Visa on Arrival destination.
Foreign visitors must also comply with Turkmenistan's registration requirements after entering the country.
Disclaimer:
Government fees, tourism-company charges, visa rules, invitation procedures, processing times, entry requirements and document requirements may change without prior notice.
Tripex is not affiliated with the Government of Turkmenistan, State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, Embassy of Turkmenistan, any tourism company or visa processing authority and does not guarantee visa approval.
The State Migration Service must approve the required Letter of Invitation before a Tourist Visa can normally be issued.
Visa approval and final entry permission are solely at the discretion of the State Migration Service, Embassy, Consular authorities and border officers of Turkmenistan.
Government, consular, tour-operator and visa processing fees are generally non-refundable once paid.
The period required to obtain the State Migration Service Letter of Invitation is separate from the Embassy visa-processing period and is not published as a guaranteed fixed processing time by the Embassy.
Information should be reconfirmed with the Embassy and sponsoring Turkmenistan tourism company before submission.
