Ukraine

Indian ordinary passport holders require a visa to travel to Ukraine. 

• India is eligible for Ukraine’s electronic visa system. The Government of India also currently lists Ukraine among the countries providing an eVisa facility to Indian ordinary passport holders.

• Ukraine resumed issuing eVisas to eligible foreign nationals from 19 February 2025. Tourism is specifically included among the permitted purposes.

• Indian tourists can therefore apply for the Ukraine Tourist eVisa online without normally visiting the Embassy for the standard eVisa process.

• The passport must remain valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from Ukraine.

• The passport should have at least 2 blank pages.

• The passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years.

• A recent photograph must be uploaded with the eVisa application.

• A clear copy/scan of the applicant’s passport must be uploaded.

• Valid medical/travel insurance is mandatory.

• The travel insurance must cover Ukraine and the applicant’s entire intended stay.

• Minimum insurance coverage must be EUR 30,000 or the equivalent in another currency.

• The applicant must demonstrate sufficient financial means to cover the entire stay in Ukraine and the cost of leaving Ukraine.

• Ukraine accepts financial evidence including recent bank statements, cash, eligible bank cards accompanied by account-balance evidence, accommodation booking, employer/sponsor financial support and return/transit tickets.

• Ukraine’s MFA specifically gives a bank statement covering the most recent 2 months as an example of acceptable financial evidence.

• Ukrainian law also requires foreign visitors to have sufficient funds calculated in accordance with Ukraine’s official financial-support rules. Border authorities may request evidence of available funds.

• The applicant must provide documents establishing that the main purpose of the trip is tourism.

• Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the following as examples of tourism evidence:

Hotel/accommodation bookings

Programme of stay

Information about organised tours and their dates

Tourist-agency details

Transfer arrangements

Sightseeing information.

• A Ukrainian invitation letter is not a universal requirement for a genuine tourist eVisa where the applicant has adequate tourism documentation.

• For ordinary tourism, hotel bookings, tour arrangements and a programme of stay can establish the purpose of travel.

• A return or onward ticket is strongly recommended and may form part of the evidence showing sufficient financial means and intention to leave Ukraine.

• Travel insurance is mandatory; unlike many tourist eVisa destinations, this should not be shown as merely “recommended”.

• Bank/financial evidence is also mandatory in the sense that the applicant must demonstrate sufficient funds. A bank statement is one of the officially accepted methods.

• Employment letters, Form 16 and Income Tax Returns are not specifically listed as mandatory standard eVisa documents. They may nevertheless be supplied where useful as supplementary financial or employment evidence.

• Aadhaar card is not listed as a mandatory Ukraine eVisa document.

• No standard vaccination certificate is currently listed by the Ukrainian MFA as a normal Tourist eVisa application requirement.

• After approval, the Ukraine eVisa is delivered electronically in PDF format.

• The traveller should print the approved eVisa and present it together with the passport to Ukrainian border-control authorities.

• The eVisa is valid for entry through international border checkpoints authorised for foreign travellers.

• Due to the ongoing security situation and martial-law conditions in Ukraine, travellers must separately verify the current operating border checkpoints, transport routes and security situation immediately before travel.

• Visa approval does not guarantee admission into Ukraine. Final entry remains at the discretion of the State Border Guard Service and other competent Ukrainian authorities.
