Brazil Visitor Visa Requirements for Indians

1. Online visa application form

The applicant must complete the Brazilian online visa application form, commonly known as the RER form, and upload the required documents and photograph.

The information entered in the form must match the applicant’s passport exactly. For minors, the form must be signed by both parents or legal guardians.

2. Original passport

The passport should:

• Be signed by the passport holder
• Be valid for at least six months
• Contain at least two blank visa pages
• Be submitted with a clear copy of the passport information page

Previous passports containing earlier visas and travel history may also be submitted where available.

3. Recent passport photograph

A recent passport-style colour photograph meeting ICAO requirements must be provided. The photograph should have been taken within the previous six months.

4. Personal cover letter

A signed cover letter should explain:

• The purpose of the visit
• Proposed travel dates
• Places to be visited
• Accommodation details
• Who will pay for the trip
• The applicant’s occupation and current circumstances
• Confirmation that the applicant will leave Brazil before the permitted stay expires

5. Flight itinerary

A flight reservation or itinerary showing the applicant’s proposed arrival in and departure from Brazil must be submitted. Applicants should avoid purchasing non-refundable tickets until the visa has been granted.

6. Accommodation documents

Applicants staying in a hotel should provide hotel reservations covering the intended visit.

Applicants staying with relatives or friends should provide an invitation letter from the host, along with the host’s Brazilian identity document, residence permit or passport and proof of address, where applicable.

7. Proof of sufficient funds

The applicant must demonstrate that sufficient funds are available for the trip. Supporting documents may include:

• Personal bank statements for the previous three months
• Salary slips
• Income Tax Returns
• Fixed deposits or other financial documents
• Sponsorship documents, when another person is funding the trip

The Brazilian Embassy requires evidence of financial capability but does not publish one fixed minimum bank balance applicable to every applicant.

8. Employment, business or education documents

Employed applicants

• Employment letter
• Recent salary slips
• Approved leave or No Objection Certificate
• Employee identity card, where available

Self-employed or business owners

• Business registration certificate
• GST registration, where applicable
• Company bank statements
• Income Tax Returns
• Company covering letter

Students

• Bonafide or enrolment certificate
• Student identity card
• Leave permission from the institution
• Parents’ financial and sponsorship documents

Retired applicants

• Retirement proof
• Pension statements
• Personal financial documents

9. Visa fee payment receipt

Proof that the visa fee has been transferred must be included. The Embassy currently accepts payment through an identified bank transfer to its designated RBL Bank account. Payment instructions are shown during the e-Consular appointment request process.

10. Additional documents for minors

Applicants below 18 years may be required to provide:

• Birth certificate
• Visa authorisation form signed by both parents
• Notarised parental consent
• Copies of both parents’ passports
• Custody documents, where applicable
• Consent from the non-travelling parent, when travelling with only one parent

The Embassy may request additional documents or an interview depending on the applicant’s personal circumstances.
