Visa Type: Japan eVisa – Single Entry Short-Term Tourist Visa
Purpose: Tourism / holiday / recreation
Allowed Stay: Up to 90 days
Application Mode: eVisa, but applicants must submit their application and documents through VFS Global - Japan Visa Application Centre in India. The visa is issued electronically instead of a sticker on the passport.

Important Note

Japan eVisa for Indian nationals residing in India is not a fully online visa. Applicants are still required to submit the visa application and supporting documents through VFS Global. Once approved, the applicant will receive an electronic visa issuance notice, which must be shown on a mobile device at the airport. Printed copies, screenshots, or PDF versions are not accepted.

Required Documents

1. Valid passport with more than two blank pages
   
2. Old passports, if available
   
3. Photocopy of the current passport bio-data pages, including first and last page
   
4. Completely filled and signed Japan visa application form
   
5. One recent photograph taken within the last 6 months, with white background
   
6. Covering letter, if any special explanation is required
   
7. Flight or cruise schedule to and from Japan
   
8. Day-wise itinerary in Japan, including hotel details and contact information while in Japan
   
9. Latest Income Tax Return
   
10. If Income Tax Return is not available, last 6 months’ bank statement
    
11. Proof of relationship, if the applicant is travelling with a dependent, such as marriage certificate, birth certificate, or passport copy
    
12. For students or dependent applicants:
    

• Consent letter from parent or spouse
  
• Latest Income Tax Return of parent or spouse
  
• If ITR is not available, last 6 months’ bank statement of parent or spouse
  

The Embassy or Consulate may request additional documents or an interview depending on the applicant’s profile. Documents submitted, except the passport, will not be returned.

Visa Fee and Submission

For Indian nationals, the Japan single-entry visa fee is INR 500 from 1 July 2026. VFS service charges will also apply. Applications can be submitted through VFS, and applications are accepted from 3 months before the intended travel date.
