Laos

Documents Required

1. Valid Indian Passport

• Passport must be valid for more than 180 days / 6 months from the date of arrival in Laos.
  
• The same passport used for the eVisa application must be presented at immigration.
  
• Only an ordinary passport is accepted for Laos eVisa applications. 

1. Passport Bio Page Copy

• Clear scanned copy or photo of the passport bio page.
  
• The upload must include the full bio page and the MRZ lines at the bottom of the passport page. 

1. Recent Passport Size Photograph

• Size: 4 cm x 6 cm
• Colour photo
  
• Taken within the last 6 months
• Plain white background
  
• No shadows
  
• Face must be clearly visible
  
• Neutral expression with both eyes open 

1. Travel Details

• Intended date of arrival
  
• Port of entry in Laos
  
• Accommodation or stay details may be required while filling the application.
  

1. Email Address

• The eVisa approval letter will be sent to the applicant’s registered email.
  

1. Online Payment Card

• Visa fee must be paid online.
  
• Laos eVisa supports payment methods including Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, WeChat Pay, Alipay and UnionPay. 

Laos eVisa Fee for Indians

For Indian passport holders, the Laos eVisa fee shown on the official calculator is USD 50 per applicant, excluding bank charges.

The official website also states that the eVisa fee is non-refundable. 

Processing Time

The usual processing time for Laos eVisa is 3 working days after submitting the completed application and paying the visa fee. Processing may take longer if documents or information do not meet the required criteria. 

Validity and Stay

• Visa type: Tourist eVisa

• Approval letter validity: Up to 60 days
  
• Permitted stay: 30 days from the date of arrival in Laos

Travellers with a Laos eVisa can enter only through designated ports, including:

2. Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge I, Vientiane
   
3. Luang Prabang International Airport
   
4. Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge II, Savannakhet
   
5. Pakse International Airport
   
6. Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge IV, Bokeo
   
7. Boten International Checkpoint, Luang Namtha
   
8. Boten Railway Station, Luang Namtha
   
9. Khamsavath Railway Station, Vientiane 

At Laos Immigration

On arrival in Laos, the traveller must present:

• Original passport
  
• Laos eVisa approval letter
  
• Travel and stay details, if requested by immigration
  

The official eVisa information page states that the approval letter is the key document for entering Laos through the eVisa route, and entry can be denied without it.
