Norway

• Indian ordinary passport holders require a Schengen Visitor Visa to travel to Norway for tourism.

• Norway should be the main Schengen destination.

Apply through Norway when:

Norway is the only Schengen destination

OR

Norway is the main destination based on the longest stay or principal purpose.

If there is no identifiable main destination, the application is normally submitted to the country of first Schengen entry.

Passport Requirements:

• Original current Indian passport

• Previous passports should also be submitted where available

• Passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years

• Passport must remain valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure from the Schengen Area

• At least 2 blank pages

Financial Requirements:

If staying with family/friends OR accommodation is already paid:

NOK 300 per person per day

If accommodation has NOT been pre-booked/pre-paid:

NOK 1,300 per person per day

If several people travel together without prepaid accommodation:

At least NOK 1,000 per person per day.

Sponsorship:

If the traveller does not have sufficient personal funds, a person or company in Norway can provide a financial guarantee using Norway's official sponsorship procedure.

Norway also permits electronic sponsorship, for which the applicant can provide the sponsor's four-word code during the visa process.

Invitation Letter:

Not required for ordinary independent hotel-based tourism.

Biometrics:

Required for most applicants.

Applicants normally provide:

Fingerprints

Facial photograph.

If Schengen fingerprints were collected within the previous 59 months, they may normally be reused.

Children under 12 are generally exempt from fingerprint collection.

For Minors:

If travelling alone:

Consent signed by both parents/legal guardians and legalised as required.

If travelling with only one parent:

Consent from the non-travelling parent is required.

Where one parent has sole custody:

Provide evidence of sole custody.

Svalbard:

Special attention is required when travelling to Svalbard.

Although Svalbard is part of Norway, it is outside the Schengen Area.

A traveller who needs a Schengen visa and travels from mainland Norway to Svalbard and then returns to mainland Norway will normally need a visa allowing at least two entries.
