Slovenia

• Indian ordinary passport holders require a visa to visit Slovenia.

• Indian diplomatic passport holders are exempt for short stays, but the exemption does not apply to ordinary Indian tourist passports.

• The correct visa category for a tourism trip of up to 90 days is the Schengen Short-Stay Type C Visa.

• Slovenia must be the correct Schengen country to process the application

Apply through Slovenia where:

Slovenia is the only Schengen destination

OR

Slovenia is the main destination based on the length or principal purpose of the journey.

If no main destination can be identified because the traveller spends an equal period in several Schengen countries, the application should normally be made to the country whose external Schengen border the traveller intends to cross first.

• Applications from India can be submitted through authorised VFS Global centres.

• The final visa decision is made by the competent Slovenian diplomatic/consular authority, not VFS.

Passport Requirements:

• Passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years.

• Passport must remain valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area.

• Passport must contain at least 2 blank visa pages.

• The original passport must be submitted for the visa process.

• Copies of relevant passport pages are required.

• VFS specifically asks for copies of visas issued during the previous 3 years.

Visa Application Form:

• Completed and signed Slovenia / Schengen Visa Application Form is mandatory.

• The application form should be completed in English or Slovenian.

Photograph:

• One recent passport-size photograph is required.

• Current VFS document guidance specifies approximately 3.5 × 4 cm.

• Photograph should:

Be no more than 6 months old

Have a plain light / white background

Show the full face clearly

Meet Schengen/ICAO standards.

Travel Medical Insurance:

• Travel medical insurance is mandatory.

• Minimum insurance coverage

EUR 30,000 per person

• Insurance must be valid:

For the entire planned stay

• Policy must cover:

Emergency medical treatment

Hospitalisation

Medical repatriation

Repatriation in case of death.

• Applicants in India should use a travel insurance provider accepted for Schengen visa purposes.

Flight / Transport:

• Return or round-trip flight reservation is required.

• If visiting several Schengen countries, applicants should also provide applicable:

Internal flight reservations

Train reservations

Car-rental bookings

Other transport evidence.

Accommodation:

• Accommodation must be shown for the complete trip.

Acceptable evidence includes:

Hotel reservations

Holiday-home bookings

Apartment accommodation

Campus residence where relevant.

• When several Schengen countries are being visited, proof of accommodation must normally be provided for each destination.

Important Slovenia-Specific Requirement – Guarantee Letter:

• The current VFS Slovenia India Tourist Visa checklist specifically lists:

“Guarantee letter authenticated by the Administrative Unit in Slovenia.”

• This is a particularly important Slovenia-specific document.

• Where the applicant is sponsored or staying privately, Slovenia requires the appropriate authenticated Guarantee Letter / sponsorship documentation.

• Applicants should ensure that the guarantee documentation complies with Slovenia's official format and has been authenticated where required.

• For accommodation in Slovenia, current VFS instructions also state that reservations should include:

Full name of the person confirming the accommodation

Contact telephone number.

Tourism Proof:

• Applicant must demonstrate genuine tourism plans.

Suitable documentation includs:

Detailed travel itinerary

Travel agency confirmation for organised trips

Other documents clearly showing the planned tourism programme.

Financial Requirements

• Original personal bank statements covering the last 3 months are required.

• Bank statements must show account movement and should be:

Stamped by the bank

Signed by the bank.

• Indian Income Tax Return acknowledgement for the last 2 assessment years is required under the common India supporting-document list.

• Slovenia's published Schengen reference for means of subsistence is EUR 70 per person per day where accommodation/subsistence is not otherwise secured.

• For minors travelling with parents or legal representatives, the published reference is 50% of the adult amount.

Important: 

EUR 70 per day is a means-of-subsistence reference and not an automatic visa approval threshold. The Embassy evaluates the applicant's complete financial circumstances.

For Employed Applicants:

Provide:

• Last 3 months salary slips

• Employment contract

• Employer letter confirming approved leave / holiday

• Last 3 months bank statements

• Income Tax Return acknowledgement for the last 2 assessment years.

For Self-Employed / Business Owners:

Provide:

• Company registration certificate

• GST registration number for companies based in India

• Last 3 months bank statement

• Income Tax Return acknowledgement for the last 2 assessment years

• Additional business evidence where appropriate.

For Retired Applicants:

Provide:

• Pension statements for the last 3 months

AND/OR

• Proof of regular income generated from property or business.

For Students:

Provide:

• Certificate from the School / College / University confirming enrolment.

• Sponsor and financial evidence should be provided where parents or another person are funding the trip.

For Sponsored Applicants:

Provide:

• Sponsorship evidence

• Sponsor's financial documents

• Proof of relationship where relevant

• For Slovenia, the authenticated Guarantee Letter should be provided where applicable.

For Unemployed Applicants:

• Being unemployed does not automatically make an applicant ineligible.

• The applicant should clearly demonstrate:

Who is funding the journey

Sufficient available finances

Relationship with sponsor, where applicable

Genuine reasons to return to India

Personal/family circumstances.

Minors:

• If travelling with only one parent:

Notarised consent from the non-travelling parent/legal guardian is required unless sole custody can be established.

• If travelling without either parent:

Notarised consent from both parents/legal guardians is required.

• Copies of parents' passports/identity documents should be included.

• Birth certificate should be provided where applicable.

• Court/custody documents should be provided where applicable.

Biometrics:

• Fingerprints are required for most applicants aged 12 and above.

• Applicants generally need to appear in person when fingerprints are required.

• If Schengen fingerprints were previously collected within the last 59 months, they can normally be reused.

• The Embassy may request fingerprints again if:

Previous biometric records cannot be retrieved

Fingerprint quality is insufficient

Identity requires additional verification.

• Children below 12 are exempt from fingerprint collection.

Invitation Letter:

• A normal informal invitation letter should not be confused with Slovenia's official Guarantee Letter requirements.

• For private accommodation or sponsorship, the required Slovenian Guarantee Letter / Invitation documentation should be used.

Travel Insurance: 

Mandatory.

Bank Statement: 

Mandatory.

ITR: 

Last 2 assessment years required under the India supporting-document list.

Return Flight: 

Required as a reservation.

Hotel Booking: 

Required for hotel-based tourism.

Guarantee Letter: 

Current VFS India Tourist Visa checklist specifically lists an authenticated Guarantee Letter for Slovenia.

Aadhaar: 

Not listed as a standard mandatory Tourist Visa document.

Police Clearance Certificate:

Not required for an ordinary short-term tourist visa.

Vaccination Certificate: 

Not listed as a standard Schengen Tourist Visa application requirement.

Visa approval does not guarantee entry.
