Tanzania Visitor Visa for Indian Citizens

Indian passport holders require a visa to travel to Tanzania for tourism, holidays, visiting family or friends, and other permitted short-term activities. Travellers can apply for a Tanzania Ordinary Visa online as an eVisa before departure. Indian citizens are also currently eligible to obtain a visa on arrival, but applying online in advance is recommended to avoid delays at the immigration counter.

The Tanzania visa covers travel to both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. Travellers planning to visit both destinations do not need to obtain separate visas.

Indian citizens applying for a Tanzania visitor eVisa should provide:

2. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of application and must contain at least one unused visa page.

4. A clear scanned copy of the passport page containing the applicant’s photograph and personal information.
5. Recent passport-size photograph
6. A clear, recent photograph that meets the online application requirements.
7. Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
8. Travellers may be required to present their return or onward travel ticket upon arrival.
9. Accommodation details
10. Hotel booking confirmation or the address and contact details of the host in Tanzania.
11. Travel itinerary
12. Details of the applicant’s intended travel dates, destinations and planned activities.
13. Applicant’s contact details
14. A valid email address and telephone number for application updates and visa notifications.
15. Visa fee payment
16. The government visa fee must be paid online using an accepted payment method.

The immigration authorities may request additional documents, information or an interview depending on the applicant’s circumstances.

Tanzania eVisa Application Process

1. Complete the online visa application form.
2. Enter the passport, personal and travel information correctly.
3. Upload the required passport copy, photograph and supporting documents.
4. Pay the applicable government visa fee.
5. Submit the application for immigration review.
6. Track the application using the application identification number.
7. Download the Visa Grant Notice after approval.
8. Carry a printed or digital copy of the approved visa while travelling.

Visa approval notifications are normally sent to the applicant’s registered email address. Applicants should wait until they receive the Visa Grant Notice before travelling.

Important Conditions

• Every traveller, including children and minors, must have a separate visa application.
• The passport should have at least six months’ validity and one blank visa page.
• Applicants should carefully verify all information before submission because submitted applications may not be editable.
• Visitors must carry evidence of return or onward travel.
• An Ordinary Visa does not permit the holder to work or conduct employment in Tanzania.
• Travellers visiting Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar can use the same valid Tanzania visa.
• Visa approval does not automatically guarantee entry. The final decision is made by the immigration officer at the port of entry.
• Applicants should submit the eVisa application well before their intended travel date.

Tanzania Visa Fee

The official government fee for a Tanzania Ordinary Visitor Visa is USD 50. Payment gateway charges, currency conversion costs and visa assistance service charges may apply separately.

Processing Time

The official Tanzania Immigration guidelines state that regular online visa applications are generally processed within 10 days. Applicants are advised to apply early because processing may take longer when additional documents, verification or an interview is required.
