Yemen

• Indian passport holders require prior visa approval before travelling to Yemen for tourism.

• India is listed on the official Yemen eVisa eligibility portal. For Indian nationality, the portal currently displays tourism-related options including “Visit Groups Tourism” and “Urgent tourist visa”.

• Yemen officially launched its electronic visa system in June 2025 through the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority under the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the portal is intended for people seeking permission to enter Yemen through official ports of entry, subject to completion of the requirements and approval of the competent authorities.

• Passport must be valid for at least 180 days / 6 months.

• The traveller must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to meet personal expenses while in Yemen. The official eVisa portal says acceptable evidence can include funds carried by the traveller, a bank guarantee, Yemeni guarantor or other evidence of sufficient resources.

• For organised tourist groups, Yemen's official government guidance requires the application to be supported by an accredited tourism agency.

• The tourist group must be arranged through a Yemeni tourism agency.

• Group-tourism documentation includes details of the tourists such as names, nationalities, ages and passport numbers, issue dates and places of issue.

• A return/onward travel ticket is specifically required under Yemen's published tourism visa conditions.

• The applicant must not be listed among persons prohibited from entering Yemen.

• For an Urgent Tourist Visa, Yemen's published rules require a request from an accredited Yemeni tourism agency containing sufficient information about the tourist.

• The Yemeni tourism agency must provide an undertaking that the tourist will leave Yemen when the authorised period of stay expires.

• Independent tourism should not be presented as equivalent to the normal tourism-agency process. Applicants should first confirm the tourism sponsor/agency and intended Yemen entry point.

• Hotel booking is not separately listed as a universal mandatory document in the currently published eVisa FAQ. Accommodation and itinerary arrangements should nevertheless be coordinated with the sponsoring/accredited tourism agency and supplied when requested.

• A private invitation letter is not a substitute for the tourism-agency documentation where the application is being made under the tourist category.

• Bank statements are not specifically listed as the only acceptable financial document, but proof of sufficient resources is required.

• Travel insurance is not listed on the current official eVisa portal as a mandatory tourist visa document. Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is nevertheless strongly recommended.

• The current official eVisa information does not list a vaccination certificate as a standard requirement for an ordinary Indian tourist application. Health requirements should be reconfirmed according to the traveller's route and recent travel history.

• Visa on Arrival should not be advertised as the normal Yemen tourist visa option for Indian passport holders. Prior authorisation should be obtained before departure.

• Visa approval does not guarantee entry. Immigration authorities retain control over admission at Yemen's official ports of entry.

• Indian travellers must also consider the current Government of India travel advisory. On 11 July 2026, India's Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the earlier statutory travel restriction had been withdrawn, but it continues to advise Indian nationals to refrain from non-essential travel to Yemen. If travel is unavoidable, travellers are advised to assess the security situation carefully, avoid active conflict zones and register with the Embassy of India in Riyadh.
